A copper foil flexible circuit, also known as a flexible circuit or FPC, is made using polyester or polyimide (Kapton) as the base material, according to your product requirements. Through an etching process, unwanted areas are chemically etched away, leaving the traces of copper that make up the desired circuit! This process is not environmentally friendly and is more expensive than screen printing.

ADVANTAGES OF COPPER FOIL FLEXIBLE CIRCUITS

  • Copper flexible circuits can meet the requirements for very fine traces and low resistance. This means that the circuit can be designed in a very limited space and can use single or double layers as needed.
  • Copper flexible circuits can be integrated with graphic overlays to be manufactured into FPC membrane switches. This means that FPC membrane switches can be as flexible as membrane switches, and can be customized as needed. They can also include the same options as membrane switches, such as waterproofing, shielding, anti-interference, backlighting, and built-in electronic components, etc. Tactile feedback can be achieved with metal domes or polyester domes.
  • The polyimide-based FPC membrane switch can be allowed to bend without damage and can withstand harsh environments.
